Monticello police arrested Joyce R Housman, of Monticello, on Saturday after responding to a home on Park Avenue for a report of an assault, said Monticello Police Lt. Mark Johnstone.
When police arrived on the scene, they found a 26-year-old woman who was bleeding from the leg. The victim told police that Housman had stabbed her twice with a pair of scissors during a dispute, Johnstone said.
While police were interviewing the victim, Housman returned to the scene and was arrested, police said.
The victim was transported by Mobile Medic Ambulance to the hospital for treatment.
Housman was charged with assault, criminal contempt and criminal possession of a weapon and remanded to the Sullivan County Jail on $100,000 bail pending further court action.
